The Engineering Lab
Behind JustLast

Open-source projects, engineering guides and real-world experiments across embedded systems, CNC, automation and motion control.

What is JustLast?

JustLast is an independent engineering lab and knowledge platform. It started as a way to document real projects — CNC conversions, embedded systems builds, motion control experiments — and grew into a collection of practical engineering guides shared openly.

Everything here is built from real engineering work: servo motor configurations, stepper driver comparisons, CNC post processors, STM32 firmware, LinuxCNC setups, industrial sensor integration. Not theoretical. Not AI-generated. Tested on real machines and real hardware.

The Engineering Domains

Embedded Systems

STM32, Arduino, ESP32, sensor integration, PCB design, firmware development, communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN).

CNC & Machining

LinuxCNC conversions, G-code, toolpath strategies, CNC calibration, post processors, material selection, tool wear monitoring.

Motion Control

Servo motors, stepper motors, linear actuators, PID control, VFD spindles, position control systems, multi-axis controllers.

Industrial Automation

PLCs vs IPCs, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, OPC UA, Profinet, EtherCAT, factory automation, machine vision, conveyor systems.

CAD/CAM

SolidWorks, Fusion 360 CAM, post processors for GRBL, LinuxCNC, HAAS, Siemens, FANUC. Tool library management, simulation.

Open Source

Code, schematics, designs, and tools shared freely. Every project here has reproducible files — because engineering knowledge should be accessible.

How I Build

Build. Test. Share.

Every project starts with a real engineering problem. I build a solution, test it on actual hardware, document what works (and what doesn’t), then share the code, schematics and lessons learned openly.

No fabricated credentials. No invented measurements. No AI-generated “hands-on” articles about projects that don’t exist. If I say I tested something, I actually tested it. If I say something works, I have the data to show it.

Some articles are deep technical guides researched and written from engineering principles and manufacturer datasheets. These are clearly marked as reference material, not personal project documentation. That distinction matters.

The Founder

Virender Kumar runs JustLast alongside his engineering businesses. With 15+ years in electronics, mechatronics and motion control, he builds real systems — servo motor configurations, CNC machines, conveyor systems, embedded controllers — and documents the engineering process here.

JustLast is the knowledge arm. The commercial engineering work happens through Neway & Velton Pvt. Ltd., which builds motion control systems, linear actuators, conveyor systems, and operating theatre equipment. The relationship is straightforward: the engineering lab produces knowledge, the businesses produce products.

1

Real Engineering

Every project uses actual hardware, real measurements, real test results.

2

Open Source

Code, schematics, designs shared freely under permissive licenses.

3

Honest Documentation

What works, what doesn’t, what I learned — documented accurately.

4

Practical Focus

Solutions that solve real engineering problems, not theoretical exercises.
